About This Program

HMGP provides funding after a presidentially declared disaster to help communities reduce future disaster losses. Homeowners cannot apply directly — your local government applies on your behalf for projects like home elevation, floodproofing, acquisition, or relocation. Contact your city or county emergency management office to ask if your area has an active HMGP cycle.
