About This Program

New Mexico provides a complete property tax exemption on the primary residence for veterans with a 100% service-connected VA disability rating. Starting in 2026, veterans with disability ratings below 100% will receive a proportional exemption matching their rating (e.g., 70% disabled = 70% property tax reduction). Surviving spouses may continue the exemption.

100% disabled veteran: full exemption saves the entire annual property tax bill. Partial ratings proportional starting 2026.
