About This Program

All Georgia homeowners who occupy their home as a primary residence are entitled to a standard homestead exemption of $2,000 off assessed value for state and county taxes. Fulton County and City of Atlanta provide additional local exemptions layered on top of the state exemption. Apply once — exemption renews automatically. Must have owned and occupied by January 1 of the tax year.

Annual recurring tax savings. Value depends on millage rate and local add-on exemptions.
