Travis County Over-65 / Disabled Homestead Exemption & Tax Ceiling

Travis Central Appraisal District / Texas Comptroller

active county

About This Program

Homeowners who are 65+ or certified disabled receive an additional $60,000 school district exemption and Travis County's added $143,220 exemption on top of the standard homestead exemption. Critically, the school tax is frozen at the amount owed in the year the over-65 or disability exemption is first applied — protecting seniors and disabled homeowners from future school tax increases regardless of rising home values.

Not a direct cash grant — reduces taxable value and freezes school taxes. Call Travis County Tax Exemption Helpline at 512-873-1560 for personalized estimate.
