About This Program

South Carolina's Homestead Exemption provides a complete property tax exemption on the first $50,000 in Fair Market Value of a primary residence for homeowners age 65+, totally and permanently disabled, or legally blind. Pending 2025–2026 legislation may increase the exemption to $100,000–$150,000. Disabled veterans may qualify for a full exemption on their primary residence.
