About This Program

North Carolina permanently reduces property taxes for homeowners age 65+ or totally and permanently disabled with income at or below $38,800 (2025 threshold). The exclusion removes the greater of $25,000 or 50% of the home's appraised value from the taxable base. Apply annually with the Mecklenburg County Assessor's Office by June 1.
