About This Program

Colorado seniors who are 65+ and have owned and occupied their home for at least 10 consecutive years qualify for a property tax exemption on 50% of the first $300,000 of actual value (increased from $200,000 for tax years 2023–2027). Application is made to the Denver County Assessor between January 1 and July 1. This exemption is not income-tested — any qualifying senior may apply.

Savings depend on local mill levy. On $300,000 exempted value at Denver's ~7.15 mill rate, savings ~$2,145/year.
