Florida allows county and municipal governments to grant an additional homestead exemption up to $50,000 for homeowners who are age 65 or older as of January 1 and whose household adjusted gross income does not exceed $38,686 (2025 income for 2026 tax year). Miami-Dade County offers this Long-Term Resident Senior Exemption, which can effectively eliminate the county's ad valorem portion of the tax bill for qualifying seniors.
