About This Program

FHA Title I loans allow homeowners to borrow up to $25,000 for home improvements without requiring equity in the home. Loans under $7,500 are unsecured. Improvements must substantially protect or improve livability. DC lenders offer fixed-rate loans at market rates with terms up to 20 years. No minimum credit score is required by FHA, though lenders may require 580–640. Debt-to-income ratio must be below 45%.
