About This Program

The VA offers Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grants for veterans with severe service-connected mobility disabilities, and Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grants for veterans with certain vision, hand, or respiratory disabilities. The HISA grant (up to $6,800) covers medically necessary home modifications. Veterans can use SAH/SHA grants up to 6 times over their lifetime.

SAH FY2025: up to $109,986. SHA FY2025: up to $22,036. HISA: up to $6,800 for service-connected conditions or $2,000 for non-service-connected. Amounts increase annually.
