About This Program

Oklahoma Insurance Department's Strengthen Oklahoma Homes program provides grants of up to $10,000 to homeowners across all 77 Oklahoma counties (statewide since January 2026) to upgrade roofs to the IBHS FORTIFIED Home — Roof designation (High Wind + Hail Supplement). Certified improvements can reduce severe storm damage by up to 80% and lower insurance premiums by 20–30%. Applicants must have an active residential insurance policy with wind coverage; those in FEMA Special Flood Hazard Areas must also carry flood insurance.

Maximum grant per household; actual award covers certified FORTIFIED roof upgrade costs up to the cap.
