Xcel Energy Heat Pump Rebate

Xcel Energy pays a rebate when you install a qualifying high efficiency electric heat pump, and the rebate amount depends on the equipment and your state (the largest programs are in Colorado and Minnesota). You apply through Xcel Energy's online Digital Application portal (your contractor can also submit it for you), and Xcel pays you by check or your contractor applies the credit to your invoice.

Steps to apply

1. Confirm your new heat pump qualifies for an Xcel Energy rebate in your state and keep the paid contractor invoice plus the equipment specification sheet or AHRI certificate.
2. Go to xcelenergy.com/digital_application and start the Digital Application (about six sections, roughly 14 minutes).
3. Enter your Xcel Energy account information and the installed equipment details.
4. Attach your paid invoice and the equipment specification documents, then submit online.
5. Check the box to have a copy emailed to you, since the print and download option is no longer offered, and wait for the rebate check or invoice credit.
