FEMA / NM Homeland Security & Emergency Management
FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program provides funding after federally declared disasters to reduce risk from future natural hazards. Eligible activities for homeowners include flood-proofing, wind-hardening, safe room construction, and drainage improvements. Homeowners cannot apply directly – applications are submitted through the City of Albuquerque or state emergency management.
Federal funding covers 75% of eligible project costs; local government must provide 25% match. Individual homeowner benefit varies by project scope.
