About This Program

USDA Section 504 loans provide up to $40,000 at 1% interest over 20 years to very low-income homeowners in eligible rural areas for essential home repairs. Note: Charlotte proper is generally not in an eligible rural area, but some surrounding Mecklenburg and nearby county unincorporated areas may qualify. Loans and grants can be combined for up to $50,000 in assistance.
