HUD Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes
HUD's national Lead Hazard Reduction grant program provides municipalities and states with $4–7M each to eliminate lead-based paint hazards in pre-1978 private housing. In Denver, DDPHE receives this funding and offers free lead risk assessment and abatement to income-eligible households where children under 6 or pregnant women reside. Includes Healthy Homes supplemental funding addressing mold, pest control, and other hazards.
Services are free to qualifying homeowners — full cost covered by HUD grant. Typical abatement value: $8,000–$15,000.
