About This Program

The VA Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grant provides up to $126,526 (FY2026) for veterans with severe service-connected disabilities to build or modify a home for maximum independent living. Eligible disabilities include loss of or loss of use of both legs, blindness in both eyes with visual acuity of 20/200 or less, or certain severe burn injuries. The grant may be used up to 6 times over a veteran's lifetime.

Grant is non-repayable. TRA (Temporary Residence Adaptation) also available up to $50,961 if veteran doesn't own the home.
