About This Program

The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada provides free smoke alarm installation and home fire safety education through the Sound the Alarm campaign, in partnership with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. Trained volunteers visit homes to install up to two free smoke alarms, assist with fire escape planning, and in some cases install specialized alarms for deaf and hard-of-hearing residents. Over 2,000 free smoke alarms were installed in Southern Nevada in 2025.

No income limit — open to all Southern Nevada residents; schedule at SoundTheAlarm.org/Nevada; specialized alarms for deaf/hard-of-hearing residents may be available
