About This Program

USDA Section 504 provides loans up to $40,000 and grants up to $10,000 to very-low-income rural homeowners to repair, improve, or modernize their homes. Grants are exclusively available to homeowners age 62 or older who cannot repay a loan. Loans and grants can be combined for up to $50,000 in total assistance. Property must be in a USDA-eligible rural area.
