FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Grant

FEMA / Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security (GOHSEP)

active disaster-resilience

About This Program

FEMA's FMA program provides grants to reduce or eliminate flood damage to NFIP-insured structures. Eligible projects include home elevation above base flood elevation, dry floodproofing, and demolition/rebuild. New Orleans homeowners with repetitively or severely flood-damaged homes are prioritized. Applications are submitted through local governments to GOHSEP, not directly to FEMA. ICC coverage (up to $30,000) may also be available through NFIP policies following substantial damage determinations.

Federal share is 75–100% of eligible project cost. Homeowners work with local government to apply. ICC coverage through NFIP provides separate $30,000 for compliance costs.
