About This Program

The VA TRA grant allows SAH- or SHA-eligible veterans to adapt a family member's home where they are temporarily living, without requiring the veteran to own the property. The FY2026 maximum is $50,961 for SAH-eligible or $9,100 for SHA-eligible veterans. Any amount used from TRA is deducted from the veteran's lifetime SAH or SHA grant balance.
