About This Program

USDA Rural Development's Section 504 program provides low-interest loans and grants to very low-income rural homeowners for home repairs and improvements. Grants up to $10,000 are available for homeowners age 62+ who cannot repay a loan; loans up to $40,000 at 1% interest for those who can. Combined assistance up to $50,000.
