FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)

FEMA — administered through Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM)

conditional federal

About This Program

FEMA's HMGP provides funding to reduce future disaster losses following a Presidential disaster declaration. Homeowners cannot apply directly — local governments apply on behalf of residents. Common funded activities include home elevation above flood level, acquisition and demolition of flood-prone properties, and mitigation reconstruction. Contact the City of Austin or Travis County emergency management office when a disaster is declared.

75% federal / 25% local government match. Homeowners apply through local government, not directly to FEMA. Funding becomes available only after a Presidential disaster declaration for the area.
