About This Program

The VA Specially Adapted Housing grant provides up to $126,526 (FY 2026) to veterans with severe service-connected disabilities to build, modify, or purchase an adapted home for independent living. The grant may be used up to 6 times within the lifetime cap. Veterans contact the Charlotte VA Health Care Center or Salisbury VA to initiate the process.

• Must have severe service-connected disability (loss/permanent loss of use of limbs, etc.)
• FY 2026 maximum: $126,526 — may be used up to 6 times within cap

• TRA (Temporary Residence Adaptation) add-on: up to $50,961 if SAH-eligible
