About This Program

Section 504 provides 1% interest loans up to $40,000 and grants up to $10,000 for very-low-income homeowners in eligible rural areas to repair, improve, or modernize homes or remove health and safety hazards. Grants are limited to homeowners 62 and older. Some suburban Cook County areas may qualify.

Loans at 1% interest up to 20 years; grants for age 62+ only; rural areas only
