HUD / FHA-approved lenders
The FHA Title I program insures loans made by approved lenders for home improvements, repairs, and rehabilitation. Single-family homeowners can borrow up to $25,000. Loans under $7,500 are unsecured; larger loans require a property lien. The program does not require equity in the home and is accessible to borrowers with limited credit history. Interest rates are fixed and negotiated with the lender.
Not a grant, must repay. FHA insurance reduces lender risk, enabling broader access. Contact HUD at 800-225-5342 for lender referrals.
