About This Program

The VA Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant of up to $9,100 (FY2026) helps veterans with qualifying service-connected disabilities adapt their home to accommodate their disability. Eligible conditions include blindness in both eyes with 20/200 vision or less or anatomical loss of both hands. TRA funding of up to $9,100 is also available for veterans renting rather than owning. Usable up to 6 times over a lifetime.

Grant is non-repayable. Smaller in scope than SAH; typically for hand-loss or bilateral vision disability.
