USDA Rural Development
USDA Section 504 provides home repair loans up to $40,000 at 1% fixed interest over 20 years to very-low-income rural homeowners, and grants up to $10,000 (lifetime) to homeowners age 62+ to remove health and safety hazards. Loans and grants can be combined for up to $50,000. This program applies to rural and small-town areas of Dane County outside the Madison metro core.
