HUD Office of Lead Hazard Control & Healthy Homes

active federal

About This Program

HUD's Lead Hazard Reduction program funds local governments and nonprofits to identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards in pre-1978 housing occupied by low-income families with children under 6. HUD awarded $365 million nationwide in a recent grant cycle. In Miami-Dade, eligible residents are served through locally funded programs; contact Miami-Dade HCD or the Florida Department of Health for current grantee status and how to apply.

Funding flows through local grantees (county/city governments) to homeowners/renters. Not a direct federal application. Priority for homes where a child under 6 has elevated blood lead levels.
