About This Program

HUD's Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program funds local governments and nonprofit organizations to eliminate lead-based paint hazards in homes built before 1978 where children under 6 live or spend time. Awards of $1–$7 million are made competitively to grantees who then provide free lead remediation services to qualifying low-income homeowners and landlords. Tennessee participates in this program; check with MDHA or TDEC for current Nashville-area grantee status.
