About This Program

The VA Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant provides up to $25,350 (FY 2026) to veterans with qualifying permanent service-connected disabilities for accessibility improvements to a home they own or will own. SHA targets less severe mobility impairments than SAH and can fund ramps, widened doorways, grab bars, and similar modifications. It can be used up to three times within the lifetime cap.

Grant, no repayment. Less severe disability threshold than SAH. Use VA Form 26-4555 to apply.
