USDA Rural Development
USDA Rural Development's Section 504 program provides low-interest loans (up to $40,000) and grants (up to $10,000 for homeowners age 62+) to very low-income rural homeowners to repair, improve, or modernize their homes. Loans and grants may be combined up to $50,000. Properties must be in USDA-eligible rural areas; verify eligibility at the USDA eligibility site. Funds are limited and waitlists are common.
