About This Program

HUD's Lead Hazard Control program funds local grantees to identify and reduce lead paint hazards in low-income housing built before 1978. When the City of Salt Lake City or Salt Lake County receives HUD funding, qualifying households receive free inspection, risk assessment, and lead hazard reduction at no cost. Priority is given to homes with children under 6 or pregnant women.

Up to $20,000 per unit when program is funded. Availability depends on active HUD grant awards to local grantees.
