USDA Rural Development Section 504 provides 1% fixed-rate loans (20-year term) up to $40,000 and grants up to $10,000 for homeowners age 62+ to remove health and safety hazards. Combined assistance can reach $50,000. Properties must be in USDA-eligible rural areas – some Salt Lake Valley communities outside the urban core may qualify. Verify address on USDA eligibility map.
