FEMA's HMGP provides post-disaster funding to reduce future disaster losses. San Diego homeowners in wildfire- or flood-prone areas may be eligible after a presidentially declared disaster for projects such as home hardening, defensible space improvements, floodproofing, elevation, or acquisition. Homeowners cannot apply directly, contact San Diego County Office of Emergency Services to ask about active HMGP cycles.
