About This Program

The Earthquake Brace + Bolt program provides grants to homeowners in eligible ZIP codes to seismically retrofit wood-framed houses built before 1980 with raised foundations. Standard grants are up to $3,000 with no income requirement. Income-eligible households earning $94,480 or less can receive a Supplemental Grant covering up to 100% of retrofit costs. San José is in a high-hazard zone with many eligible ZIP codes.
