About This Program

The HISA grant provides veterans with medically necessary home modifications to improve accessibility and accommodate disability-related needs. Veterans with service-connected disabilities can receive up to $6,800 lifetime; those with non-service-connected conditions can receive up to $2,000. Covered improvements include ramps, roll-in showers, grab bars, doorway widening, and modifications to plumbing or electrical systems for medical equipment.

Lifetime benefit, not per-year. Service-connected: $6,800 lifetime. Non-service-connected: $2,000 lifetime.
