LIHEAP provides energy bill assistance to low-income New Mexico households by making direct payments to utility companies or fuel suppliers. Both heating and cooling assistance are available. Crisis assistance is also available for households facing immediate shutoff or energy emergencies. Applications are accepted October 1 through August 31 while funds remain available.
Benefit amounts vary based on household size, income, fuel type, and available funding. Typically a one-time seasonal payment per program year.
