About This Program

EPA and HUD require lead-based paint hazard assessment and remediation as part of any federally funded home repair work. Austin's NHCD Home Rehabilitation Loan Program and Travis County's CDBG Home Repair Program automatically include lead inspection and remediation in their scopes of work. Homes built before 1978 that receive city or county grant funding will have lead hazards addressed at no additional cost to the homeowner.

Lead remediation is embedded within Austin NHCD's Home Rehab Loan (up to $75,000 total) and Travis County CDBG (up to $24,999). EPA information line: 800-424-5323.
