FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)

About This Program

HMGP funding is triggered by presidentially declared disasters and helps communities reduce future hazard risks. Individual homeowners cannot apply directly but may benefit when their local government applies on their behalf for elevation, floodproofing, or retrofit projects. In Massachusetts, MEMA coordinates HMGP applications. Boston homeowners in flood-prone areas (particularly coastal neighborhoods) may benefit through city-administered mitigation projects.
