About This Program

LeadSafe Boston provides forgivable loans of up to $12,000 per unit to remove lead paint hazards from Boston homes. Owner-occupants with a child age 6 or younger earning at or below 80% CDBG Moderate Income qualify. Investor-owners must have a tenant with a young child and at least 50% low-to-moderate income tenants. The City received $4.06 million in HUD Lead Hazard Reduction funding effective through December 2028.

Forgivable loan (no repayment if conditions met for 3 years). Up to $12,000/unit for lead hazard abatement. Owner-occupant income limit: 80% CDBG Moderate Income.
