About This Program

The HISA grant funds medically necessary home improvements for veterans and servicemembers with service-connected (up to $6,800 lifetime) or non-service-connected (up to $2,000 lifetime) disabilities. Covered modifications include wheelchair ramps, roll-in showers, widened doorways, grab bars, and lowered countertops. Requires a prescription from a VA physician documenting medical necessity.

Lifetime limit: $6,800 service-connected, $2,000 non-service-connected. No repayment.
