VA Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) Grant

About This Program

The SHA grant helps veterans with specific service-connected disabilities (such as blindness in both eyes with 5/200 visual acuity or less, or loss of hands) adapt or purchase a home for independence. The maximum grant is $25,349 for FY 2026. Like SAH, the SHA grant can be used up to three times within the aggregate lifetime limit and does not require repayment.
