About This Program

The USDA Section 504 Home Repair Loan provides loans up to $40,000 at 1% fixed interest for very-low-income homeowners in eligible rural areas to repair, improve, or modernize their homes. Loans have terms up to 20 years and can be combined with the companion Section 504 grant for seniors. Tennessee is one of 25 states selected for a materials pilot program through December 2026. Eligibility is determined by USDA rural area maps.
