About This Program

The VA Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) grant provides up to $6,800 for medically necessary home modifications for veterans with either service-connected or non-service-connected disabilities. Unlike SAH and SHA, HISA can be used by renters (not just homeowners) and applies to modifications required for primary medical treatment. Nashville veterans can receive assistance through the Nashville VA Medical Center.

Grant for medically justified modifications. Renters and owners both eligible. Available regardless of whether disability is service-connected.
