About This Program

HUD awards Lead Hazard Reduction grants to local governments and nonprofits (including San Diego area agencies) to identify and reduce lead-based paint hazards in low-income rental and owner-occupied homes built before 1978. Income-qualified homeowners and renters with children under 6 living in pre-1978 homes are prioritized. Services include lead risk assessments, clearance testing, and hazard remediation.
