About This Program

The VA's Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grant helps veterans with severe service-connected mobility disabilities adapt or build accessible homes. The SHA grant assists veterans with blindness, hand loss, or certain respiratory disabilities. HISA (up to $6,800) covers medically necessary home modifications prescribed by a VA provider. Veterans may use these grants up to 6 times in their lifetime.

SAH FY2025: up to $109,986. SHA FY2025: up to $22,036. HISA: up to $6,800 (service-connected) or $2,000 (non-service-connected). TRA also available for temporary residences.
