About This Program

The VA's Specially Adapted Housing grant provides up to $126,526 (FY2026) to veterans with qualifying severe service-connected disabilities to build, buy, or adapt a permanent home. Eligible conditions include loss of limb(s), severe burns, blindness, and certain respiratory conditions. The grant can be used up to 6 times over a veteran's lifetime and can also fund a Temporary Residence Adaptation (TRA) of up to $50,961.
