About This Program

The VA's SAH grant helps veterans with specific service-connected disabilities build, buy, or modify a home to meet their adaptive needs. Qualifying conditions include loss of or loss of use of both legs, certain severe burns, blindness in both eyes, and loss of use of both hands. Veterans may use the grant up to 6 times over their lifetime up to the maximum amount. The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston administers the grant locally.
