VA TRA Grant — Temporary Residence Adaptation

About This Program

The TRA grant allows SAH- or SHA-eligible veterans to adapt a temporary residence (such as a family member's home) while their permanent home is being modified or constructed. It is a supplemental benefit available in addition to SAH/SHA grants. For FY 2026, TRA provides up to $50,961 for SAH-eligible veterans and up to $9,100 for SHA-eligible veterans.

TRA is in addition to the SAH/SHA grant; does not reduce the SAH/SHA lifetime maximum.
