About This Program

HISA provides medically necessary home improvements and structural alterations for veterans to improve access, use of essential lavatory and sanitary facilities, and kitchen/bathroom accessibility. Maximum $6,800 lifetime for service-connected disabilities; $2,000 for non-service-connected disabilities. Does not cover exterior decks, hot tubs, security systems, portable ramps, porch lifts, stair glides, or routine maintenance. Apply through your local VA medical center's prosthetics department.

HISA is a lifetime benefit. Service-connected veterans receive up to $6,800; non-service-connected up to $2,000. Coordinate with Phoenix VA HCS prosthetist.
